True Spring
The True Spring palette is warm, bright, and clear. Think of the vibrant colours of blooming flowers in the spring, the spring sunshine and the bright green of fresh new grass. The True Spring palette embodies the beauty of spring with its fresh, warm and lively colours.
The overall appearance of True Spring is fresh, energetic and full of life, with colours that are pure, lively and warm.
Who Falls into the True Spring Season?
True Springs will have obvious warmth to their appearance - whether that is through a sun-kissed look, golden hair, fiery red hair, or warm green eyes.
The only way to really determine your color season is through draping, however, there tend to be certain features that True Springs have, but keep in mind that there are always exceptions.
Skin: The skin is usually clear and bright with warm undertones. It can have a peachy, golden, or ivory quality. It is a misconception that True Springs will have tan skin or tan easily. Some True Spring can have very pale, almost translucent skin. This is especially common with redheads. However, the undertone of the skin will always be warm.
Eyes: The eyes True Springs can be green, blue, light brown, amber or warm hazel. The eyes tend to be bright, clear and sparkling with a clear distinction between the whites of the eyes and the iris.
Hair: The natural hair color will usually be around 4N-8N and can be a warm golden blonde, dark blonde, light brown, caramel, golden brown, strawberry blonde, natural red or autumn. The hair will have a naturally warm undertone, with either golden or red hues. Most natural redheads will usually be True Springs or True Autumns.
True Springs have a naturally warm, vibrant and lively appearance, and their best colours are those that mirror this brightness and warmth without being too dark, cool or muted.
How Do You Know if You're a True Spring?
Each season has a primary, secondary, and tertiary feature. Your primary feature is your dominant and the most obvious feature. Your secondary and tertiary features might be a little less obvious and harder to determine. Your secondary and tertiary features might be a little less obvious and harder to determine, but they are still equally as important in determining your coloring. For True Summers, their features are the following:
Primarily Feature: Warm. The primary feature of True Spring is warmth. Their skin, hair, eyes and lips will have warm undertones and they will shine in warm colours, whereas very cool colours will wash them out, dull their natural warmth and appear out of harmony.
Secondarily Feature: Light. True Springs have a lightness to their appearance, with hair, eyes and skin that are on the lighter side. However, lightness is not their primary feature.
Tertiarily Feature: Bright. Spring is a bright season and although True Springs are not as bright as Bright Spring, there will be a level of brightness to their appearance, that is complimented by wearing bright colors.

To determine if you are a True Spring, consider the following steps:
Cool vs Warm True Springs are warm. They shine in yellows, corals, warm browns, oranges, warm greens and beige. Cool colours like cobalt blue, cool pink, cool purples and grey can make them appear sickly and look off.
Depth: Are your features (hair, eyes, skin, lips) primarily light, medium or dark? If they are very dark or very light then you can eliminate True Spring from your palette as you’ll most likely be looking at either the light or deep seasons. If your features are light or medium or medium-light, then you might be a True Spring.
Contrast levels: Are your skin, hair and eyes all a similar depth or do you have much darker hair relative to your skin? True Springs typically have medium contrast levels.
Chroma: Are your features more bright or muted? Can you wear bright clothing or do you look better in more muted colors? The features of True Springs are on the brighter side and they will able to comfortably wear bright colours without them being overpowering - on the contrary, they need bright colours to shine!

The best way to determine your season is to do a drape test. You can either purchase a physical drape test fan or try some digital tools online like vivaldicolor.com, Dressika, and others. Or, just find different color pieces in your wardrobe, compare them to each other and take notes!
You want to look for colors that smooth your skin out, lift your jawline and bring out your eyes, lips and eyebrows. The colors should harmonise with you, not being too overpowering and also not washing you out.
Also, take note of the colors that you really don't like on yourself. This can offer some clues to your season as well.
If you find that you look best in warm, medium-light and medium-bright vibrant colours, then you might just be a True Spring!

Colors to Avoid for True Springs

Jewelry for True Spring
As a warm season, True Springs are the quintessential gold girlies! They glow in gold, rose gold and light and bright stones. The best options include:
Metals: Gold, rose gold, and warm, light metals
Stones: Pearls, citrine, coral, turquoise, amber, peridot
Avoid overly dark or cool-toned jewellery, which can clash with the vibrant and warm quality of the True Spring palette.
Hair Colors for True Spring
The natural hair colour of a True Spring can range from a medium-golden brown to a golden blonde to a fiery red. The hair colours are typically between levels 4-8N and have natural golden or red undertones. Many natural redheads will fall into the True Spring season. True Spring, along with True Autumn, is also one of the few seasons where individuals can pull off fiery red locks.
Many True Springs will also dye their hair a warm beachy blonde, however, the natural hair colors of True Springs are typically darker - you don't have to have naturally light blonde hair to have a True Spring.
As a True Spring, if you do choose to dye your hair, then the best options include colours that are vibrant, warm and medium-light. Colours that are too cool, muted and ashy can clash with your natural warmth.
Flattering hair colour choices include:
Blonde (levels 7-9): Golden blonde, honey blonde, strawberry blonde, warm dark blonde
Red (levels 5-8): Natural red hair, copper, auburn
Brown (levels 5-6): Light golden brown, caramel brown, toffee brown
Highlights: Warm, sun-kissed highlights in shades of gold, honey, or caramel can add dimension without overwhelming the natural colour
Avoid ashy, overly dark, or cool shades that can contrast too sharply with the warm, bright undertones.

Makeup for True Spring
Makeup for True Springs should be fun, warm, sun-kissed and bright enhancing their natural features. Some makeup tips include:
Foundation: Choose foundations with warm or golden undertones that match your skin. For very pale True Springs, try to find foundations that match your pale skintone.
Blush and Bronzer: Blushes in the colors of soft peach, coral, and warm pinks work well. A light subtle bronzer can also add vibrancy and golden warmth.
Eyeshadow: Shades of warm taupe, golden brown, peach, and warm coral look amazing!
Lipstick: Choose bright, warm shades like coral, peach, warm pink, and warm red to add extra vibrancy. Avoid dark or overly cool lip colours as they can weigh you down. True Springs look gorgeous in bright, warm and light lipsticks!
Eyeliner and Mascara: Black eyeliner and mascara can appear too harsh and lack the warmth that makes a True Spring radiant. Shades of warm brown, bronze, or golden brown can work better.
Sister Season: True Autumn
True Spring's sister season is True Autumn. Both seasons are primarily warm with warmth being their most obvious feature. True Autumns, however, are darker, softer and more muted. As a True Spring, you may find that some colours from the True Autumn palette work well for you and you can borrow some colours from this palette. However, the warm vibrancy of True Spring will remain your most radiant choice!
